Sorry,
first off. I haven’t had the chance to blog recently for various reasons. One
is that I started work on my diploma thesis which keeps me busy till evening
all the week, the other is that I am really busy working on my cosplays in the
evening and at weekends and my time is running very short again. After Animuc,
which was very, rainy, cold, but still full of nice moments, Hanami is also
drawing close: In other words I’ve only got one more week to work on my LalMirch cosplay and Rin’s postponed sword.
So, after
finishing my boxes, I started to work on boxes again xD. And these will fill
this first blog today. I guess Kurikara aka Rin’s sword from Ao no exorcist
will get an own entry soon, when I’ve finally figured out how to make the handle.
Cause I rushed before (when I still wanted to finish it for Animuc) I’m not
really satisfied with it anyway. Plus it really dissed me… But as already said,
that’s another story.
Ok, so
about boxes…
I decided
to make Lal’s strange 2 boxes just as I had made Gokudera’s. I cut them out of
balsawood, rasped the pieces and glued them together, except for the lids. This
time I cut lines into the boards using a cardboard cutter, painted them black
inside and found old wood stain I had used years back for the scabbard of
Isanes Zanpakuto.
I painted them with this twice to achieve more or less the
right reddish-orange brown colour (needed longer drying periods).
And the real worst
thing was the last step: Today I added the silver decorations to the boxes with
a pearl maker pen to achieve a 3D effect… Unfortunately the lines didn’t become
very uniform (although for Lal’s boxes this is not entirely wrong), but the
greater trouble was, that when I drew small spikes from it in the corners using
a pencil, I touched the still wet colour more than twice -.-‘’, had to try to
mend everything and get the ruined colour off as good as possible… It wasn’t
really fun. But now it is at least Ok.
To make her
shirt was plain fun though, since I wasn’t to hem anything but rather to cut
roughly xD. Very unusual and pure fun although I think it still looks too tidy.
I’ll add pics some other time, when it is entirely finished.
Today I
also worked on the headphones, I guess they are supposed to be headphones xD,
she wears with her ‘very cool ‘ snowboard-goggles-like goggles. I made
them out of fimo light and improvised a
little using a cup, a plastic ball, an old knife and some more of my new fimo
tools.
Tomorrow I will paint the inside of them, hem her cloak and make my first hopefully successful try of dying fabric.
Afterwards I will try my luck with the gorilla head on her shoulder or the gun
she carries at her arm… and maybe finish the handle of Kurikara.
Then I
still need to work at her shirt, finish the pacifier, make the gun or the
shoulder protector… spray-paint the blade of Kurikara and finish it’s binding…
Plz cross thumbs for me that I get finished in time -.-‘’.
Update: Last night I noticed that I had forgotten something: The boxes have got this nice mark around their hole. So I added it before I went to bed. Looks much better now to my mind :).

Since somehow today many things became more complicated I just finished the headphones, started to cut the cape and did a thorough research on how to batik a zigzag pattern. Still I'm not really sure, but I guess I just have to try ^^''.
