No more stripes, please! @.@

So… first of all… I ended up cancelling Ticon in February cause I came down with influenza -.-‘’ but I could spontaneously attend the bookfair in Leipzig in March before travelling further to a congress  in Berlin :). And the first con this year started off very very great! Hope the next one is going to continue like that although my expectations are very high… Well, but where am I today and
what happened to this crazy plan to cosplay Drakon (Sinbad no Bouken) at Animuc?

Well…. atm… Easter, 5 days before the con I ended up close to a nervous breakdown…
I don’t know if I mentioned it already, but I decided early on to make Drakon’s armour mostly out of artificial golden leather.

Well… I’m still sticking to the plan although there were quite some changes in detail on the way.
I already nearly finished the bracers, which were the easiest part by far. The pattern was made in one hour, the leather thoroughly cut out and the pattern of the scales drawn onto it with a soft pencil and then sewn with a darker shaded (olive green) thread. Which took quite some time. The problem were the differently coloured edgings at the rim… I was thinking about spray painting the leather and then sewing  the stripes onto the the rest. Only…. the sewing machine wasn’t able to transport them after the painting cause they became too sticky… -> close to my first breakdown.
Till my flatmate had the glorious idea to simply glue them with the same glue she already used to glue latex… So the parts are more or less done now except for sewing them together thanks to her!

I continued after some trouble with travelling home to my family (hurricane -> no trains going -.-'') during the easter holidays with the main armour part, I already had cut out with the help of a friend. But before sewing back and front together I had to adorn them again… So I had to figure out how I’d exactly sew them together before that and afterwards to draw those lines onto the leather one by one… which took about a whole day (not kidding!). Then I could start to sew them and finally sew the parts together before starting to make the collar and then the same procedure started for that part as well…
Working process of the main armour part. I chose a slightly curved shape so that they fit to the rim and would look rather straight while being worn.

To cool down a bit I continued my work with the cape which I just whipstitched (forget about that shape of it! I’m running out of time even while neglecting this strange zig-zag fall of it…). I used a read velvet fabric besides. The same I already used for Kyo’s theatre version. So I’ll spare you pictures of it as it was just a piece of cake to make.

Just to show the knee guards and the chaos while working xD

But the hardest part is still lying before me: These goddamn boots of his -.-‘’’. I already got spray painted golden boots thanks to Sinbad but I still have to make the upper part in the shape of bootcovers and to attach my already finished worbla-knee guards to them and to make that particular part of armour out of whorbla’s a friend just happens to call corset ^^’’’’… -> Drakon = Corsetty ^^’’’’….. And I thought I couldn’t be more dishonoured as with this abbreviation… It’s still Dragul! Not Drakon -.-‘’’ if anything…

So if I really will get finished you’ll hear after Animuc. So, stay tuned and nice holydays and a nice week.

Oh, nearly forgot: Here is also a picture of Hotohori’s bracers. I used the same leather for them in Dezember (which I already used for Sharrkan ;)).

I hope you don't mind the bad quality of some pictures as they were taken with my smart phone due to a lack of time and camera -.-''.
