Freya part xyz....

So... really do I have naught but this one sole topic? Well, I have but I'd like to keep going with that one for continuity reasons or something like that.

So I really started to think about the decorations missing at the legs.
I decided to make them out of lids a while ago or rather someone else came up with that idea. Before I was thinking of uncovered buttons.
So I just collected some, cleanes them, poked holes into them, rasped the edges smooth again and attached a safety pin to them with some thread.

I want to cover them with worbla still in order to get a less flat surface and color them silver.
When I'm finished I will just show you this step and the final result.

Meanwhile I rather started finally with the weapon. First of all I had to make a new sketch as I didn't find my old one anymore ^^''. Took lots of measuring of course and converting of course.
But I have to admit I really like the result :).
The next step was cutting out every single part of these top pieces out of balsawood... as the lance's got two sides lots of fun ^^''.

So here you see just the main parts. I cut them out with a box cutter leaving a bit extra as the stuff tended to break easily. Breaking in general is not a problem though if you find the single pieces afterwards that is. They can be easily glued together again which I had to do quite often ^^''. But small stripes can be missing and that's a bit inconvenient so I just switched to this more bothersome technique as I later on rasped of the extra using my fine file or rahter two of them. One flat and one rounded on one side.
For the half-orbs instead of filing me to death with uncertain outcome I just bought a wood pearl and sawed them in half using a handsaw and very carefully a vise at work which also took me more than half an hour.
Ok... afterwards I made the smaller pieces and directly rasped them into their intended 3D shapes.  Also started with one of the bigger pieces... But after working a bit for every evening a week and a good part of the weekend I didn't get further than this:

Still, I'm happy that you can already see in which direction this is going and very happy that up till now everything turned out quite well. I guess time without stress is the key :).
Besides I found something very great and new for me! The artist store around the corner offers balsa wood not only as boards of very many thicknesses but also as rods *-*. This settles also my problem about these pearl decorations at the staff :). For the rest I already bought curtain rings, a pine staff and ministones from my favourite dawanda shop for this :). They offer really nice and realy looking stones and also pearls and sockets and stuff.
So I guess the lance is about halfway finished. :) Going to keep this updated. Meanwhile I just assumed the habbit of twittering progress pics without a detailed explanation or much context. Helps me greatly to advance :).
